The overprints were prepared by order of Vice Admiral Muselier
to
rally the Free French Forces against Nazi occupied France.

December 31, 1941. Their sales was limited to two sets per family.

The black overprints were available only on the afternoon of
of January 2, 1942, and sales were limited to one set per family.
